Feel free to shrink the size of the webpage to show how I optimized the site for mobile use. You will notice the navigation turn into a hamburger option.

Trend Two

Organic Shapes

Having square images on a website can be boring. A way to spruce up a website is by adding different border radius to images. Rounding the edges of an image will make the website seem less blocky and have a nice flow to the to the page. Social media companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have gravitated towards using less blocky graphics in their pages to have a better flow. Using a radius will allow for the div’s in the page to blend and have a more consistent flow.

Opinion

The addition of organic shaped images is a great way to break up a web-page. It allows the developers to hide the hard lines of the div’s that are used to contain the space. I feel this as well as using flat images will be here to stay due to it being visually pleasing to the user. You can also add shadow effects to the images, so they pop from the background creating another layer to the viewer.

Trend Three

Hamburger Navigation

Navigation bars are essential when it comes to navigating a website. A user cannot access content they need unless it is a single page layout. Developers are using Hamburger style navigation to take clutter away from the website creating a more appealing design to the website. Many of the hamburger icons are including animations to improve the user experience. For this website I have added a responsive navigation in the style of a hamburger.

Opinion

I feel that hamburger navigation will be a fad and will go change to something else quickly. It will stay around for mobile optimization, but that will be about it. It is a good way to clean up the current website and take clutter away, but I feel there will be a better feature added to CSS3 once it is full competed. This reminds me of having a static navigation bar available while you scrolled through the web page. It was adopted by many websites quickly, but had faded away.

Trend Four

Animations

Today users are looking for more interactive experiences when searching for information on the web. Websites are using animations to confirm if information is loading on the web page, or to tell a story through the illustrations. A good animation will help portray the brand image of the website. Some developers are placing GIF's in web pages to portray animations.

Opinion

Animations are much like transitions. They offer a more interactive experience to the user and will increase the likelihood of them returning to the website. I have noticed many websites adding animations to advertise or express a service that they offer. I had seen a moving company use an animation of someone hurting their back while moving boxes. This showed their services would prevent them from getting hurt.

Trend Five

Transitons

Transitions add a visually appealing way to draw users into the website. Transitions typically make the user stay longer due to them being more interactive. Companies are using animations to increase their marketing strategies and are using them for support options to come up on a web page. Today transitions and animations are being used to tell stories about the site or products as well. Try refreshing the page.

Opinion

I feel that transitions will be here to stay due to making the website have more of an appeal to users. If a webpage is more interactive for the user. They are more likely to visit the page again in the future and stay on the website longer.
